Construction Law
BB&H has substantial experience assisting clients in the construction industry from the initial contract negotiation and review stage through the resolution of disputes that may arise over the course of a construction project. Both John and Mary Beth have represented general contractors, subcontractors, and owners in matters unique to the construction industry. Our practice is equally divided between commercial construction and residential construction matters. The attorneys at BB&H apply their philosophy of efficient resolution of disputes to their approach to these matters in order to serve their clients’ best interests. Our representation includes negotiating and reviewing contracts and loan documents, navigating payment disputes, handling construction defect claims, perfecting mechanics’ and materialman’s liens, and managing contract claims. Seeking the advice of experienced construction legal counsel from the beginning of a construction project can be critical to avoiding conflict. However, when disputes exist, BB&H stands ready to represent their clients work through and resolve the dispute.

Real Estate Law
In addition to assisting its clients with the preparation of deeds and related documents, BB&H has significant experience closing large commercial loans, particularly HUD loans. We also assist clients with litigation regarding boundary disputes, clearing title to real property, and related real estate matters.

Business Law
BB&H provides advice and guidance to a number of business owners to assist them with their decision-making tasks and goals. We can assist in forming a business and will help our clients determine the type of entity that best serves their needs. We strive to provide our clients with prompt attention and advice with a continual focus on their business and economic demands. Our philosophy is to take a cost-benefit approach when analyzing their business matters. This allows the business owner to weigh the risks involved with an understanding of the legal benefits and consequences. We understand that litigation is not our clients’ primary focus as they work to build their business, and we work hard to help clients resolve disputes in a way that best meets their goals.

Probate and Estate Planning
BB&H assists clients with estate planning, including the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and living wills. We help our clients through the serious and meaningful task of planning for their future as well as their families’ future. Once a loved one passes away, we represent clients in probate court to achieve the last wishes of the deceased person. We understand that this is often a difficult time, and we approach our representation with empathy and professionalism.

General Civil Litigation
The attorneys at BB&H are comfortable in the courtroom, whether in General Sessions Court, Chancery Court, or the Court of Appeals. We handle a variety of litigation matters. In some cases, we pursue legal remedies on behalf of our clients and in others defend against unwarranted claims. We strive to find efficient and creative ways to assist clients through litigation.
